She showed me her favorite pictures as I painted her bedrooms. This one's my son's graduation. He's a doctor now with kids of his own. Here's one of my late husbands. [Music] So, people are starting to jump on. Got a few people jumping on. Could be talk about cabinet codings today. Testing out uh real stream. So, now I'm testing out uh streaming on two platforms at once, Facebook and YouTube. So, we're going to see, you know, what happens with that. I paid for the upgraded service. Uh, it says it's um capturing it or uploading it in 1080p. We're going to see how that how much difference that looks versus 720. Um, so yeah, and I got some pretty cool, you know, features added onto this. So, talking about cabinet coatings, uh, 2K polies, I got a question yesterday on my live show. Um, would I ever use uh it was um ProClassic from Shervin Williams. I have used Pro Classic on cabinets and trim years ago, a long time ago. I mean, paints are constantly evolving and changing and being reformulated, so I'm sure it's different now than what it was. But, you know, what do I use for cabinets? Um, you know, what should you use for cabinets? Uh, let's talk about that. if you got any feedback. Uh the chat's going to be going and see who's um who's jumping on. Um so we'll see. It's it is um live. We'll see. I think it's live on Facebook. I can see it um posted a comment to Facebook. So yeah. Um we'll see if anybody if you got your comments, put them in the comment section below. We can actually bring them up, you know, live right here on the screen. So let me know what you use for cabinet painting. you know, what's your favorite cabinet coating? Um, I've tested a bunch of 2K polies out. I started painting cabinets with lacquers. No, actually, we'll go. I started painting cabinets with just water-based, you know, trim coatings and and some hybrid coatings, um, oil modified products and stuff. Eventually evolved to lacquers. Eventually evolved to 2K poly's. And, um, where I sit now is 2K polies. are far superior to anything. They're uh easy to use. They'll make you money. Um they're going to be the best thing for the customers. So, what do I use currently? Uh right now, Rener 851, I think, is the absolute bomb. Best um cabinet furniture coating I've used so far to date. So, um what's your favorite product? Give us some feedback. I'll be talking about brushes today. It came up, you know, yesterday on the live show. Yo, what brush? I think somebody came up and asked me about Pervy, you know, brushes, that blue, uh, brush. So, here's, uh, the brush company I use. It's Premier. It's, um, Premier paint brushes and rollers. Uh, handmade paint brushes and rollers out of New York. Literally handmade brushes. I think they're the best brushes made on the market today. There's my custom brush that is named after my daughter that I have premier paintbrush and roller make. It is the Brooke. So, it's named after my older daughter. So, if you want to test out the best cutin brush that you can get, give it a test, man. It's handmade brush out of New York. It's the Brook brush. You can actually find it, you know, on my online store. And some of the cool things with the new features these days and you can actually, you know, add stuff like um a ticker on the bottom. Visit my family-owned and operated online store, paintsupply.com. It's right there below you. If you didn't know, I have a store. I do have a store and that's operated by me and my family. So, my daughter's there right now fulfilling your orders. So, if you ordered anything, um I gave away three things yesterday on my live show. So, that's given away. It's packaged by um my wife and my daughter. So, another thing I'll be talking about um today along with cabinet coatings. Just going to show a product that was sent in the metal mail. I think it's kind of cool. And have you used um the new Frog Tape that came out just recently, Frog Tape Advance? Love to know your opinions on it. So, I've got limited use of it. I started using it. So, what do you think? Um so, cabinet coatings. Um let's get the chat up here. if you got anything to say. Um, chat here. Um, since it's doing it on two platforms, I'm not sure if it'll like it'll show it shows some people hopped on on there. So, chat here. It pops it up right there. Um, says the host. Um, that would be me. Um, chat it up. So, let me know what platform you're on. It's being streamed live on Facebook and YouTube at the same time. So, um I'm kind of curious, you know, how that's going to work out. We're putting it to the test. I've never done that before. All in one software. So, you know, once again, um I've tested a lot of um cabinet coatings out, been using, you know, quite a few over the years. I'd say I I went from, you know, lacquers and one of the primary reasons I changed, you know, from lacquers of 2K poly, I went from a flammable explosive product to water-based coatings, which is nonflammable and um non-exlosive. And you know, if um some of you didn't know, I used to teach my my personal you know, in-personmies. people would fly out here to, you know, my shop and and I would teach people cabinet coatings, you know, there in my shop and um and how to refinish cabinets and stuff and and a couple students, one student, you know, left there and was doing the inside of a log cabin uh and re, you know, stained the log cabin with um sanding sealer. Um it got ignited by a light switch and um blew the thing up to the ground. you know, his nephew got burns on 40% of his body. So, you know, it was um, you know, one of the things that kind of like told me, you know, maybe I shouldn't be teaching, you know, people to use flammable coatings because there's a lot of, you know, ins and outs with them. And if you're if you don't know anything and everything about, you know, um, igniting flammable coatings, you know, if you get the air too saturated or there's too much dust on the ground, you know, you could, um, be sweeping the floor and, you know, cause static electricity that could ignite, you know, all the dust on the floor. Um, appliances could ignite the saturated air. there's a lot of different scenarios, you know, that could happen um that could, you know, end up killing you or doing a lot of harm and damage. So, yeah. So, um I can see that like um typically I'll get a lot of people chatting and I don't know if it's, you know, when it's doing it simultaneously, you know, if um you can actually chat it'll show chat on both both ends, but that will um show stream. See, I can show this string over here on the right hand side. Um, or I can remove it. I can leave it right here where I can just see it, you know, myself. But, you know, first time I've done a live stream, you know, uh, this early. So, um, are people chatty this early in the morning? That's kind of curious about that. Um, so, you know, eventually, you know, I I was using, you know, lacquer based coatings and, you know, I tested a lot of the coatings, you know, in my own house. Um, what better place to test it than your own bathroom vanities, your own kitchen cabinets, cuz you can see the performance, you know, over time. And I noticed lacquer based coatings, you know, chipping really easily, you know, um over time, especially in the bathroom, especially around my wife's side, um where um she um curls her hair, stuff like that. The equipment to do stuff like that was chipping, you know, the doors and stuff and the drawers up all around, you know, that kind of stuff. Um I noticed lacquer based coatings were very brittle, even in the kitchen. Um the utensil drawers had a tend tendency to get really chipped up really bad and um the cabinets after about two years they were white cabinets looked uh really bad. So, you know, I noticed now that I've been using 2K poly's for quite some time now, maybe like 5 years or something like that, you know, my kitchen, no nicks, no dings, um, holds up way better. Not nearly as brittle, um, more scrubable, more water resistant, chemical resistant, um, scuff resistant, scratch resistant. Um, my cabinets literally after doing them, I don't know, 3 years ago, four years ago, um, they still look brand new. So, um I got to say, you know, for your clients, you know, putting on, you know, a better finish is, um, always recommended. So, we got Isaac, um, Isaac popped in, chatted. So, Facebook chat obviously works. So, if it wasn't for you, DJ man, I'd still be doing factory work. Hey, glad to hear that, Isaac. Glad to hear that, you know, something I'm doing is helping you. And um that's why I do this is you know for people like you that I can help you know in any way, fashion or form. Look man, the way you know my methods aren't the only methods. The way I cut in the ceiling line is not the only way you know. Um everything I do is just what works for me. And um I take, you know, from you guys too, test things out. had the opportunity to test a lot of products out, a lot of um you know, methods of painting out um because of some of the jobs and some of the stuff I do. So, um yeah, I mean, I just share what I do and what has made my clients happy over the years and what made my business extremely successful and hopefully it'll translate to you. If you do something you see in my videos and it doesn't work for you, just file it away. Maybe it'll work somewhere down the line, but you know, people have a tendency to be critical of what I do and what others do. Well, if it doesn't work for you, that doesn't mean it doesn't work for somebody else. So, um, cool. Going on six years full-time painting. Thank you very much. Pretty cool to hear, Isaac. Awesome. So, uh, David was on, um, last night, I believe. What primer should I use for, um, plastic VOCC walls before I add paint? So, you know, um that's a good question. So, you know, painting, you know, um PPG makes a product called Breakthrough that it was actually designed for vinyl windows for plastic. So, I've painted vinyl windows, um custom vinyl doors with PPG. It doesn't even require uh primer. It's direct to the plastic whether it's um a high gloss plastic or not. I tested on my custom you know vinyl doors came out brand new um you know a vinyl and um probably 3 years ago um 3 or four years ago and not a scratch on it yet. So it's performed really well and you would think oh my gosh will paint actually stick to that. Um, you know, a Rener has um some um some primers. Look at go to Rener. So, go water-based finishes.com. Waterbased finish. It's either water-based finishes or finish.com. And Rener has some primers, you know, specifically for that, you know, that you can um use also. So, check them out. Uh Rener is um is awesome. So, Rener has a, you know, they're found, Rener is found on online. So, I believe once again, I believe it's, you know, waterbased finish. Water-based finish is.com. I'll type it in, you know, right here. So, um, so fishing, what are we talking about? Um, fishing, not catching. So, I I love fishing. So, we're talking about, you know, cabinet coatings. I wanted to jump on here and talk cuz somebody brought up, you know, Pro Classic and, you know, ProClassic, you know, um, came out years and years and years ago, and it was really a paint designed to be brushed and rolled. So, it was designed for do-it-yourselfers and not professional painters. So, it didn't, uh, spray very well at all. I started spraying it and had all kinds of problems with it running. It was it was one of the most fickle, you know, paints I'd ever sprayed before. And I did notice that, you know, it's um, you know, it it it scratched easy. It didn't bond very well to a lot of the refinishing surfaces, you know, where running into. Um, it peeled off of certain coatings, um, like, you know, um, Colombia Acra Shield, it wouldn't bond very well, too. And um so you know I you I think if you're going to brush and roll something, do it yourself, you know, it flows out. It levels really well. But from a professional painter standpoint, I would highly recommend not using it. So I'm going to say um I'm going type in this to see waterbased finish. Let's say finish. I sh finishes.com. Let's see if I'm right. Um I buy my my renderer products come from them waterbasedfinishes.com. So it's looking it up if anybody you know else um knows exact I always get it wrong. It's like sometimes they say finish and not finishes. So um so we got um my Wi-Fi is down here is not so good. Um water-based finishes water-based um water-based finishes.com. So, hello sir. How do you stay strong and fit working a physical job? How often do you go to the gym? So, I actually um you know that one goes to water-based um water based um waterbased. Let's see. Water. Jeez, I should have like had this. Um, a t e r base finishes. I sh finishes. No, finishes. I f i n i sh.com. Um, let's see. That pulls it up. So, actually, um, general finishes. That's not it either, man. Why am I like, um, this is like lame. um that I can't even find it. Let's see. Rener codings. Um let's see. I'll This is how I'll do I'll search um gosh. Um trying to do this stuff live is not easy. So um so I have I have my own personal gym. You know, I walk out my front door and it used to be where I did my um um live, you know, mies where you'd come in person and teach. And now it was converted into a full gym. It's um a full CrossFit gym. I train out there twice a day this morning. I got up at at 5. I go out. I ride. I I get up. I drink coffee first for about an hour and then um and just sit on the couch, wake up. I go ride for 45 minutes this morning after riding. Um I do some stuff with a lacrosse ball to try to rehab a shoulder and then typically do some bar work and some ab work. So, I do some pull-ups and and I do some um spino dbish.com. That's where I buy, you know, all my render codings and stuff. They got an awesome website. They got awesome technical support. um tell them the the prime primer and they've got multiple that will solve your problem. You know what you're wanting to do go over plastic. So I would highly recommend checking them out. Um so it's not every day that you're painting over plastic and stuff. So um but once again I know PPG is a great product but Rener has products that you know will solve that problem also. So you know I then I typically go back out. I work out you know um in the evening also. Yesterday I worked out I don't know after the live show but now like 6:30 it. It says it's I think it's reconnected now. It says it's reconnected. So, looks like it got disconnected for a minute and it reconnected, which is kind of cool. So, um, let me get back to here where we were. Let's see. Um, what le low VLC primers? Um, so that was I noticed my interior doors are like, um, like a outer steel on both sides, but my front door has fiberglass on it. They're both prepped similar. Yes. So, I like on front doors, whether it's um, you know, we run into them, same thing. um fiberglass or steel. I use the same product on the outside as I would on the outside of the house, the body of the house. Um once again, um Benjamin and Mora Aura is probably my my favorite exterior paint will work. Um Sher Williams duration is a great product. Uh Bear um Dynasty from your do-it-yourself store is actually a really good product. And so all you got to do is we typically just clean it. You typically don't have to do a lot of sanding, but um get out lightly sand it and um it's ready to go. And if it's like painted like a flat or satin, you almost don't even have to sand it. But sometimes on a front door, it is good to just hit it with a 320 or a 220, just a light scuff before you paint it. So, um talking 2K poly's, um thank you for all you do. Sher, Chris, Nick Han, um thank you for being on the live show. Really appreciate it. So 2K poly's waterbasedfinish.com is um waterbasedfinish.com is where I get reners. So um it's fish not catching um says something again. We do waterbased water-based shellac and Gemini water-based lacquer. So there you go that somebody's got you know um a couple products shellac. I use a true shellac like Ben. If you have um if you're doing cabinet coatings uh with water-based um coatings um like 2K poly's, one of the things I I've run into because you it seems that invariably you're going to run into some fisheye somewhere and I've tried all kinds of things from using 100% silicone products like smoothie to a multitude of different primers to cleaning with Dawn dish soap. um everything of uh Ben Zenzer Ben is um is a shellac based primer a it's a true shellac it's resolved every single fisheye I've ever run into and so we typically doing cabinets furniture always have a bomb can of bin around so if you get some fisheye um let it dry the the the 2K polies dry really fast in 45 minutes to an hour you bomb it with Ben dries really fast typically go right back over it um it's completely resolved. If the fish eyes, if you spray a heavy coating on and the fish eyes have, you know, a pretty deep crater, um, if you spray a heavy coating on, you can, if it's quick enough, just wipe it all off, the paint off, then bomb it with, um, sh the bin, and then you can recote it. Otherwise, if they're pretty deep craters, wait for it to dry, sand it, um bomb it, or if you're doing a lot of priming, just load up Ben into a sprayer and um and and shellac based primers are awesome for resolving fisheye. So, just a simple little tip. Um hello from upstate New York. Let's go New York. Um love your content. Check out um check us out on your free time. So, um FNF Painting and Solutions. I'll check you out. So, pretty cool little logo icon there. Um, awesome. So, let's cruising down like my new platform. Check it out. Um, any tips on acrylic um alkali or oilbased paints which are better used for doors, trim. So, um I don't use any oil based products anymore at all. For one thing, they're hard to get. Um oil modified products, you know, you can get which some of them are pretty cool. I've used them in the past, but I've migrated away from all oil based products, oil modified products, and gone to, you know, water-based coatings. Water-based 2K polyurethanes for furniture and cabinets. Man, are the best. I mean, they're going to make you money. They dry fast, sand, easy. They're more scratch resistant, scuff resistant, chemical resistant, water resistant. Um, if you're familiar with using lacquers, you know, it's an easy transition, but they're far superior to lacquers. They're far superior to oils. And over in Europe, oil based coatings are still used even on the outside. And there's still a lot of believers in oil based coatings, but they yellow, you know, over time. Um, they get brittle over time. some of the oil modified products don't, but I've just gotten away from them because they're just more difficult to use um harder um to get a hold of and stuff. And replying to the Idaho Painter, PL, give me an airless um spray machine for wood coatings. Um so I can't give you one, but we can sell you one. So um so um unfortunately I can't we we did just give away an HVLP sprayer. If you entered the giveaway, we gave away a whole bunch of stuff. You know, we only sold a hundred raffle tickets and somebody won that. It was, you know, like a $2,500 machine. The person, you know, for a $20 ticket, you could win a sprayer. The next thing we're going to be giving away is an echasan sander. So, we're you're we're getting ready to do that. So, stay tuned, you know, for that that giveaway that'll be coming up. So, and the way you find out about that, you know, my family owned and operated store, paintlifeupply.com is where you'll see, you know, that's where we, you know, sell stuff. My family sells, um, painting tools and we do raffles and giveaways and stuff like that. So, um, let's see. We got It's pretty cool. It's actually working. I see YouTube chat. I see, um, Facebook chat. So, I'm painting cabinets with my Graco…
