Paint failures! How to solve painting problems. #paintfailure #painter #failed

What happens here

After all loose paint has been scraped away, use an orbital sander (or a sanding block for smaller areas) to smooth the repaired surface. The video shows a sander with a vacuum hose attachment, which helps significantly reduce dust. Use medium-grit sandpaper (e.g., 120-180 grit) to smooth any ridges or unevenness left by the scraping process and to feather the edges of the existing, well-adhered paint. Continue sanding until the area is consistently smooth to the touch, ensuring there are no abrupt transitions between painted and bare areas.

Goal: Prepare the door surface for priming and painting

Tools and materials

  • Orbital Sander — Smoothing the door surface after scraping
  • Safety Gloves — Protecting hands during sanding
  • Sandpaper — Abrasive for smoothing the surface, typically 120-180 grit
  • Vacuum Hose — Collecting dust generated during sanding, often connected directly to the sander
