The mic muted. [laughter] >> It's a good thing >> we had a we had a great conversation between us. >> Oh snap. >> Can you hear us now? Tell us. >> We were we were muted. So >> can you can you hear us now? >> Yeah. So Josh Hagen says he can't hear anything. Bob said no sound. Yeah. I couldn't hear y'all. Terry said good thing there was only like three people on. Yes. when we were >> very good >> warming up. So, >> yes. >> So, we got Terry. Um >> well, >> yeah. So, people are starting to jump on. So, um we're going to be giving away some stuff today. What are we giving away? >> We're going to be giving away some gift cards to our store, Paint Life. And um Chris has spent the last couple years um making courses. And so, we have um a handful of them now. And so we're gonna give away a couple courses. So what courses do we have on our store? >> Oh gosh, the whole library. You want me to name them all off? Yeah. >> Um >> we started off the very first one was a cabinet course. Um I can't even say like and I think maybe the next one was the masking course and then we got a caulking course and then we got an epoxy course. We got a fence and deck course. We have a new construction course, an exterior repainting systems and processes course. Um, am I >> I think you're good. >> Did I hit them all? >> I think so. >> So, what we're going to do is we'll give away um two courses. And so, but you'll be able to pick which one you want. And I think like the epoxy course um we put it out doing um one course in one specific setting, but since then we've done two more floors in different settings and those will be added to the courses also. So you'll see like okay I'm a new construction or recoded or an old floor and so >> yeah. So when I guess what I have to add to that is if you've purchased a course from us, we do update them and we add new things to them. So if you purchase the Oxycourse, you know, say um 6 months ago, we've actually added quite a few videos to that cuz we did some new floors, new styles of floors, and we added that to the epoxy course. So if um the time ran out for you to do your course, we could renew the time so you can go back and see them. So >> and I think on our side that would be good for us for all the people that purchased some to send them an email saying we added to it. >> So that was something that we need. >> So I'm going to be talking about I don't know if anybody's got any experience with rain refresh. See if the glare. So >> but now I can't see any questions or chats. Um there look at that emerald rain refresh. So um self-cleing page. So no chat. So let me bring the chat back so you can see the chat. So that's the cool thing about it. So um >> Terry is with us. He said he's been painting for seven years and love your videos. I've learned so much. Thank you um for sharing. So, like I'm not an expert with Rain Refresh now, but I've got I've now I I don't know went through like 50 gallons, you know, using this products and there's some pros and cons on the products and I I definitely wanted to talk about the product. The self cleaning technology is something that really interested me and um I'm you know I I can't wait to see how that performs after one year. How the dust, dirt, um pollen. So pollen is really bad around here. Gets all over everything. Is that just gonna rinse off and wash off or is the rain truly gonna wash it off? So >> let's hear Josh. He said he painted his own house. Put in the chat like what did you like about it and what did you not like about it? We'd love to hear from you because I think that is exactly how we learn. We learn from experience. >> Yeah. because I I definitely I wanted to share some things because when I first started using it, I was like I I was like, "Oh my gosh, it's amazing." Then as I got into using it, I started having some frustrations and really started getting pissed off with some things. And then as I learned how to Yeah. [laughter] as I learned how to because it's like anything. There's um a learning curve to every tool you're going to use, every product you're going to use. As I started to figure out the product, I started to come up with um systems and processes that made it a lot easier. And then I was like, and then some of my anger and hate went away. And then I started liking it again. And at the end, the end result, um I really liked it. Now, I don't have, you know, long-term experience with it to see the results yet. You know, it's a relatively new product. So, I can't wait to see that. But, um, I I got to say, you know, I'm going to say one of the pros right now on it. right now when I first started spraying it and I was using um Exit Flex tips and if you haven't um heard of their tips, Swiss technology, new technology out there, uh tip manufacturers personally, this is my personal opinion. Um I just think they're the best tips made right now. And when I started, >> you said that before, but you they're new. >> They're new. >> Yeah. So you grow and learn. >> Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, cuz you know there was other tips. You know, tips have evolved over time. I mean, Graco um Rackex tips used to be my favorite tips and now they're probably one of my least favorite tips and tips have evolved. I And so why would I say, you know, Graco was the best back then. Well, some other manufacturers started manufacturing a better product. Graco re-engineered their tips to go low pressure. It changed some things. So, it's liquid paint. Um, >> do you have those tips down here, Michelle? >> Um, I don't. I didn't bring one down. Um, I can >> Yeah, show it up there. >> A QR code up here. >> So, you loved using those tips. >> So, what I had to say about that tip right there tip, not that. That one is the Speedy 7. Um, which is equivalent to a rack X tip. This is a Speedy 6, which is equivalent to sizewise um a like a Tri-C tip, a Titan tip, a Bedford tip. So the barrel size. So the with the the 515 exit flex tip and the rain refresh, I've never seen this before. It was almost zero overspray, zero fallout. It was absolutely amazing. I was absolutely blown away. I I mean, I'm accustomed to spraying and feeling like I have this cloud of like chemicals around me, silica dust around me, and you literally can see it in some of my videos. >> This there was none of that. It was It was It came out of the tips like butter. It didn't hiss. It sounded like smooth. Um it was amazing. I was right off the bat absolutely blown away with that. So, I got to say, um, if you, uh, purchase and are going to be spraying Emerald Rain refresh, you need to pair it up and give it a try. Exit Flex tips. And if you're spraying an exterior, I always use 515 tips. I would like um, give it a try. So, I was blown away. And I think, you know, we met the company a few years ago and we actually found out that um they make one of the products that we sell and we didn't know it and we found out they're actually a big company and they sell to um a lot of the big spray companies their accessories. And so I don't know how long the company's been around, but I know it's been around and I know it's a huge worldwide company, but the tips have been a nice pleasant surprise. >> Um, absolutely amazing. So, >> and what else do they make that you really like? >> They make the exit flex swivels, the Z swivels, >> and the guard. >> And, um, the twin fit guard. >> Can you show that? >> Um, the twin fit guard will house, um, all your tips. So it'll house um Rack X tips, Rack 5 tips, it'll house um Triek tips, Titan tips. So all your tips. So if you have, you know, your can of tips and it has um multiple tips sizing wise, this guard will um you don't have to switch over from a rack guard to a Titan guard, you know, to you know, whatever. Um one guard does it all. >> Chat go. >> So chat is right if you want. So I got to Yeah, I got to teach too. Yeah, >> there's the chat. >> So, Terry McKenzie, he said he's been watching your videos. And so, Terry, we want to give you a $50 gift card to our store where Terry McKenzie, we're going to send you a $50 gift card to our store. And how you get that, you are going to need to go to our store. What's our store website? Can you put it on there? >> Uh, paintlifeupply.com. if any like I don't know maybe somebody doesn't know >> you know we have a store so um right there you'll see it on the bottom >> so if you go to the store in the bottom right hand corner is a chat box and you just say I won a $50 gift card and I will get your email address and then I will email you that gift card. Let me get his name to put in here. >> Paintlife.com is our store. So, >> okay. So, we need to go to the chat again. So, I'm just learning this. Terry McKenzie. >> So, some like So, Josh said, "I wasn't super impressed with um the self-cleaning part of it." So, I think that's um >> you one of the interesting things about um the paint is, you know, it says selfcleing technology. It doesn't clean itself. like when I was like, you know, I was like, um, what is it like have little like fingers that get out and like start scrubbing itself and it what what it it what it is and it it might be the language might be a little bit um misleading. It doesn't clean itself, but it's rain refresh technology. So, when it rains, the rain is supposed to wash off the dirt. It's like kind of like washing it off with a hose, >> but the rain doesn't hit your whole house. And sometimes the rain doesn't even hit your house. I say most of the time the rain doesn't hit your house. >> So if you got driving rain, the wind's blowing, the wind's blowing, it hits house, that rain itself will wash off the house. That's what the technology is. I if the rain is doing that. Now, if the rain's not hitting your house, you're supposed to just be able to just soft wash the house. And um and typically, like when we pressure wash houses, when we pressure wash them, you'll still go back and you look at there's still dirt residue on the house. You can't get it off unless you literally go scrub the house with like Dawn dish soap. So even with an agitating rotating nozzle, the house is still to a certain extent dirty. >> Now rain refresh technology is supposed to make it so you can just soft wash the house and the everything's just going to fall right off. Now, I haven't experienced that yet cuz um I just started using the paint. But what I do have to say is when you actually rub the paint the house after it's been painted, it feels like really soft and slick like silicone. And it feels like nothing could stick to it, which >> not only it made sense that the dirt wouldn't stick to it, that it would just literally fall off, slough off, or just wash off, but my brain started running. And I thought, well, will paint stick to it when you go to repaint it? Will caulking stick to it? when you're painting it and it dries and you overlap a color the next day, will the paint that you're overlapping stick to it? My brain really started running. I I started I started having a lot of questions and I started having a lot of fears with the paint with that technology itself on its face. And so, um, most of that was answered as I began using it as I and as I got on the phone with Sherwin Williams asking questions, the people that could answer my questions. So, >> so is the chat what platform are you guys on that you're >> show right here? That's YouTube. >> That's Facebook. That's YouTube. >> Terry says, "What's the red putty you use interior to fill the nail holes and imperfect imperfection trim?" >> It's bond. It's Bondo Bondo glazing putty. I don't have a cure. >> We sell it on our store. >> So, it's it's an automotive product. So, um somewhere down the line, you know, some painters just um spackle wasn't like doing the job because you can spackle it, sand it, spackle it, sand it. It's well, not only does it shrink, it's so soft when you sand it, it sands it out slightly. And so if you get a light and light shining the right direction, you could always see, you know, to a certain extent where the nail head was. Um, at some point in time, somebody said, "That's not acceptable." And eventually someone said, "Hey, got this bright idea. Why don't we go get Bondo, >> you're making this all up, [laughter] >> glazing putty, and um and use that?" because it's harder than spackle and um and it sands uh to the point where like on automobiles you can never see the dent again. >> And so now the standard where we live is um spackle is you can't just spackle a house. >> Um okay, now you're messing around with things. >> I didn't know how that happened. >> Yeah, you messing around. >> I didn't know how that happened. So, you know, all the homes where we live, you have to spackle, sand, bondo, sand, sometimes bondo a second time and um then you're done. So, and it's not it's not bondo, it's the bondo glazing putty. So, I'm not an automobile expert and I've never worked on automobiles. My understanding is you fill the big part of the dent with Bondo. You sand that. Then you go over it with Bondo glazing putty and then that's how you actually finish it. So that's what it is. That's the red stuff. And um you know I know people tell me all the time uh there is I think white or beige too. And people are saying why are you using red? Well everybody uses red that I know and everybody around here and >> and you know it was taken care of. If it's white, you can't see it as good. >> That's a good point. So, yep. >> Usually, if it's fast and final work great on nail holds in MDF. >> Yeah, fast and fast and final works great on nail holes in MDF. So, Fast and Final I have actually heard of it, you know, multiple times from other people, you know, when I've done my Bondo videos and but I've never tried it. I don't even know >> where it's sold and I should probably get a hold of some. And I'm going to be doing some cabinet doors here starting next week. So maybe I'll look it up and see if I can find some because I'm sure there's going to be some nicks and dings and give it give it a try. Fast and final >> on your scheduleuler. I didn't know about that. >> Yeah. So CH, tell me where I can get some Fast and Final and we'll put it to the test. >> And C Nova says, can you texture over paint? Um, so you can texture over paint and we've done it, you know, over the years and, um, you know, it depends on paint. You should never texture over a paint, you know, with a sheen. And I would say like especially a semi- gloss or gloss. The texture would have a, you know, problem, you know, bonding, biting to it, you know, um, eggshell, flat, even satin. We've textured right over it. It doesn't have an, um, issue. It bites pretty well. M >> um you know if there's any contamination on the paint or anything it should be cleaned and stuff. I would say you know ideally you know wherever you're at texture prime it and then texture your texture um less likely to you know sag um run etc and stuff and um >> no etc >> etc. No. >> Yeah. But you can. It just it all depends on the circumstances and stuff. You know, there's a time and a place for everything. And like if I had like a small texture patch on this wall that I filled in, say like um there was an outlet in the middle of that wall and I wanted to remove the outlet and I did a California patch. Um I have no problem taking I'm doing the patch and then taking a a bomb can of spray texture. I'm texturing all around it and the paint around it and and then priming and painting over that. >> Okay. [clears throat] >> I'm in Ohio. I get it from Hartville Hardware. So, they are a do-it-yourself hardware. So, I'll have to go see um True Value Hardware around here fast and final. I'll look it up. Maybe Amazon has it. >> I'm sure they do. >> Yeah. So, >> be good. What color does it come in? That'd be interesting. >> Yeah. >> Interesting to >> I believe it was a white or something. And I think people were saying to use that cuz Bondo is like if you're spraying white over it um it is hard to it won't cover in one coat. So >> as a professional painter I always two coat I you know there's times when like you want to try to one coat something um where you know if you two coat it it's going to be covered. Well >> are one coat paints? I would have to say I like go back and say, you know, if you use cheap paint, it's probably going to be three, four coats. Um I remember back in our lacquer days when we were spraying Sherwin Williams Sherwood um lacquer. Um it would take three coats to cover the Bondo. That lacquer that they're white lacquer, >> just not very much solids in it. So >> So Frog Tapes come out with a new something. >> So it's white. So I think that that's why a you know where I've seen it. People are saying use fast and final you know because it is white um and it's similar to the Bondo performs and people are saying yeah so you know um the white on white's going to cover better. Then you get back to I think it's like um you peel um peel bond versus zenzer triple thick. Peel Bond dries clear so you don't know where you primed to go back and back brush. It's hard to find out where you did it. Triple thick has tendon so you know exactly where you primed so you can go back and back brush it. So that's sometimes with spackle. The spackle's um that dry like red or purple and that's why we add colorant to our spackle >> so we know where to go back and sand. If the walls are white and you spackle it white, you have no idea. >> You can miss something. you in the invariably you do. So, >> so, um, David's saying, "Where is the Echo Sander giveaway or when is it?" >> Yeah, we still have not like put it together yet. I've been so overwhelmed and busy. Um, that's kind that's >> So, how is that out there? We're going to do a giveaway. >> We've talked about it. >> Oh, >> yeah. I've talked about it. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And so, um, you and I did a live show that we talked about it. When we gave away the, um, sprayer, we said we were gonna probably do it. And so, >> it's been a while. >> Yeah. So, it's been a while. >> We've had a couple babies. >> Yeah. >> So, do you have any Messo tips and tricks for interior new construction? Well, Terry, we have a whole new construction course. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So, that that's where those would be. I'd say like a a must know tip or trick, mopping the walls. So, a lot of people like when I first started doing it, I was like, "What the heck is mopping the walls?" >> And um literally, it's literally mopping the walls with a mop. And there's different like if you don't mop your walls, you're going to run into a lot of problems because when the drywallers go in and sand the walls, >> um some drywallers mop their walls, some don't. I asked the builder on the last job, "Do the drywallers mop the walls?" And he said, "Yeah." I walked in after they're done, rubbed my hand over it, and my hand was just caked with drywall dust. So, there was a Sun Valley texture. Um, some people call it skip tri. Um, if there's any sanding being done, you know, you have to get all that dust created by the sanding or your paint won't stick. So, you got to mop your walls. >> Now, I've done, you know, multiple methods. I mopped and then took a blower and…
