(10,744 characters)right so today I'm out here working on doing a fence and I'm testing out a product um called dipl brush and I've been using it now for two days on this fence and I chose to use this device because I'm controlling overspray I'm using a product from um expert stain and seal and it's an self um leveling penetrating oil that's um is pretty light this is a um semisolid oil you can see I've got a structure here next to me a structure right behind me I've got plants you know um trees everywhere overspray could be a major issue when dealing with something like this and doing a privacy fence which with large gaps through here so if I'm spraying in back rushing we're going to get overspray carrying all over these plants overspray carrying on the building you would have to mask with a lot of plastic um drop cloth um mask this whole side of the house if there's any type of wind overspray can carry on this structure over here so it could be a real issue I started testing out this brush it's just the brush itself I came up with this system I've got a heavyduty tighten extension pull right here a three-pot pull got it hooked to an inline gun right here you could um actually hook it to an airless spray gun if you want but that's you know to me would just feel you know probably a little bit you know unnatural I got a whip um attached to it a paint like Supply Co whip that gives me the ability to maneuver this you around I am using stain and seal experts oil which is a self-leveling non-dying penetrating oil so any drips runs anything like this it's going to level out you're not going to see it at all you can actually use the product you can spray it on and not you don't even have to back brush it but back rushing just helps you know with penetration with their product you know it's not needed but this is a great tool been testing it out for 2 days it's working um pretty dang good there's a few things I'm just you working through it likes to uh spill product out where the tip is or the back if you're up and down so um like this I'm trying to hold it in a downward motion like this brushing and I'm trying to brush you know uh with a brush um basically horizontal instead of vertical a lot of the time so I'm going to show you what it looks like you'll brushing it with it you see it actually sprays paints I got it hooked up to my airless sprayer it sprays paint out through the bristles or the filaments the filaments are a synthetic filament I believe they're a polyester filament and when I when my brush starts to get dry I'll just spray paint into it by sque squeezing the trigger right now we got a little bit of wind picking up this would actually be really bad if I was uh spraying and back brushing with an oil this light wind would make it so it would absolutely just be a nightmare you'd have overspray everywhere does drip a little bit and just to combat the dripping I just got um got cardboard Shields down you see I can really saturate the tops of the pickets the other side of the fence is going to be done the same color and because it is a self-leveling oil anything that spills over to the other side of the fence when I coat the other side it'll self-level you won't see any runs at all stain and seals product too you can I mean I can just brush it any way I want all that's going to just self-level right there it is good practice to go back and just back rush it one way but you don't have to you can see I'm right up next to this house I don't have to worry about overspray it all the stain it's a penetrating oil stain so it's going to penetrate through all the way through the wood it's going to penetrate downward so the bottom of this picket eventually the oil is going to penetrate and saturate the bottom of that picket so I don't have to worry about trying to uh brush upward on that where I U the bottom part I can't see today I'm using you know it's a brand new tool to me so I started off I got a um Titan haa 311 tip so I know you can use um any tip you want you know when using this tool the bigger the tip the more product is to spray out um the more to me you know my thought process the more over spray possibility so I don't want any overspray at all so I started using a 311 tip to see how that's going to go and first time using it this tip is actually working perfect so another thing is I wouldn't use a brand new tip there's no point you're not concerned about spraying and getting a fine quality finish you could use any tip so I just took a 311 um haa tip which is a low pressure hip I'm running my sprayer at right around 1,000 PSI um I had it lower but um the product wasn't coming out um fast enough you you'll control how much product comes out how fast by the tip and the pressure I wouldn't say like this process is faster than say an airless sprayer and um you know back brushing necessarily um but I would say the biggest thing is he'll overspray overspray is a huge huge liability that a lot of people are concerned with especially when using oilbased products and when I was introduced to stain and seal experts oils you I realize these products are actually adding something to the wood they're adding a penetrating oil which gives life to the wood it keeps it soft keeps it from grain keeps it from cracking keeps it from splitting makes your fence lasts significantly longer I'm coming up next to this fence now the last time this fence was um coated it was coated with an oilbased drying oil you can see it dried on this wire the wire wasn't masked off this stuff looks like it might have been masked off over spray got all over it they attempted to wipe it off it was already too dry to wipe off so that can become a problem with any type of drying waterbased product or oilbased product so stain and seal experts product you can get it on the hardware and it's literally just going to wipe right off so this would take me gosh like probably an hour to mask I can just start coating it right now and I'll show you it'll just wipe right off now you can see I've got oil all over my Hardware right here and wiping it down is significantly faster than actually masking it off you see I can just one swipe just wipe that right off oil comes off you're actually adding your oil to this metal that will keep it from rusting and corroding also so I was kind of just leaving a thin film of oil on there but wipes right off don't even have to mask it at all and I can come back you know later on today and wipe this off I don't have to actually do it right now I can do it you know later when I'm all done with this fence or when I'm all done with even the gate [Music] so one of the reasons you I have this extension you can see I got it hooked up to a three 3ot extension it Mak makes it so I don't have to bend over to get down low if I was brushing and rolling just a regular brush I have to bend down there to actually reach that so the extension pull just makes my life a lot easier so I'm just going to give you a simple little tiff before I start staining I found I'm using um expert staining seals oil so it's a non-drying oil uh I typically always wear gloves for a lot of different reasons the gloves I do use with the non drying oil the oil could soak through the top of the gloves which is kind of like just um a stretch material some gloves it could soak through the palm of the gloves so I typically take like a surgical glove like Ravens and then I'll put those gloves on first and then I'll put my work gloves you know over the top of that and the reason why I don't wear just the Ravens and work with because they don't really offer any type of grip or anything they do offer protection from the oil soaking through and getting on my hands and it is an environmentally safe non-t xic oil so it's not going to um cause any issues by getting on your hands I just don't want to have to worry about cleaning it off at the end of the day just like that now if anything soaks through the gloves it is not going to get on my hands when you understand how this product functions and works being self-leveling you don't have to pay like attention to brushing with the grain pay attention to lap marks anything cuz it's self-leveling penetrating oil so I do not have to like go any specific Direction I can literally work in any direction I want you can literally like paint your name right in the middle of the fence and it's going to level up and just go away [Music] so I've been working now this is my fourth day you know using this product I'm kind of like figuring out some things that work you know with it and I like brushing with it horizontal like this versus vertical cuz um product kind of pulls down inside um the brush and when you turn it vertical it just drips out and so kind of for the most part I just use it horizontally and then every now and then I'll switch it you know vertically but just less drips the dripping I got the cardboard Shields catching any drips if you're using an airless sprayer you're going to be dripping it's no different you're going to get overspray you know all over the place too so you're brushing and rolling you're going to be getting drips so it's not unusual with a thin product like this that you'd be dripping anyway so not too concerned about it all right now I've got um I'm going to show you got a section of the fence right here that um I can't use my 3-ft extension pull in so I'm going to go without an extension pull and I'm going to hook this thing up show you how I'm going to do that so I'm now going to just take my gun got a um Titan inline gun hooked to my dipl brush right here now I can work in tight spaces that an extension pole I'm just now starting to use it off the extension pole um it's way more comfortable way more easier to use on the extension pole because it's really hard to grip um this gun I think I'm maybe if I grip it up higher like this but the grao gun is um smaller profile easier to grip than this this um Titan gun is a lot more bulkier when you're using it singlehandedly like this you can see now I can I don't have to get out a brush and roller to do this tight space right here and [Music] it's sprays products I can spray it inside these gaps right here this private seat fence a brush couldn't get in there so I can use the spray feature of this brush to get in there kind of handy little tip the penetrating oil actually will penetrate back in there too now that I've got the fence all done it's coming back this oil doesn't dry which is nice now I can just come back easily wipe off all my metal gate so much faster than Happ to mask at all [Music] oh gosh well I think I'm like an actual painter now I'm on paint for living holy cow looks so good surprise surprise
