What happens here

Begin by donning all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), including a Tyvek suit, a respirator, safety glasses (often worn under the respirator), gloves, and shoe covers. With the airless spray gun connected to a long extension, begin priming the wall, focusing on areas like stairwells that might require extended reach. Maintain a consistent distance from the wall and use overlapping passes to ensure even coverage of the Sherwin Williams PVA primer over the existing Sun Valley Texture.

Goal: Apply primer to hard-to-reach wall sections in a stairwell.

Tools and materials

  • Airless Spray Gun — Applying primer to the walls and ceilings
  • Gloves — Protecting hands from paint and chemicals
  • Respirator — Protecting against inhaling paint and primer fumes
  • Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from paint particles
  • Shoe Covers — Protecting shoes and preventing tracking paint
  • Spray Gun Extension — Providing extended reach for higher areas like stairwells
  • Spray Tip — Creating the fan pattern for primer application (a green tip is visible, often used for primer)
  • Tyvek Suit Tyvek — Protecting clothing and skin from paint and primer
