Step 6 · Execute Tree Felling and Retreat

As the tree starts to fall, finish the back cut if necessary. Once the tree is committed to falling, turn off the chainsaw, set it down safely away from the fall path, and immediately move to your pre-planned escape route. Do not turn your back on the falling tree; keep an eye on it while moving to safety.
